I don't speak the language. I don't like meeting new people. And I have no idea where Umbria is. Who cares?! I'm going to Italy!
Hayley is overweight, and she's never felt happy in her own skin. But this summer everything is going to change. She's off to Italy, where she'll discover what real pizza tastes like, what real beauty looks like, and maybe even what true amore can be.

Pretty Face edition by Mary Hogan Children eBooks Reviews
I love this book! It is a great read and suggest it to anyone who likes a good heart touching romance.
I love this story. This book helped me stay motivated to lose weight. It's a great teenager read and I think the story is sweet and adorable.
Loved this story. It was just fun and light. As someone who has always struggled with weight I felt that this was a good story for young women.
It's no Fitzgerald novel, but it takes a jab at today's society and basically it's just a feel good book. Italy and cute guys, plus a narrator who admits to liking food? And even wanting it?
Good for any young adult who has low confidence, or is stubborn even.
So nice to read this book about the "coming of age " and "becoming aware of ones true self and self worth. Not to speak of such an accurate description of Italy!
This was a good read. I'm definitely what you would call plus sized so I could identify with the protagonist (though my feeling of self worth is not rock bottom like hers was at the beginning.) I'm 19 now but I still have a soft spot of these teen coming-of-age stories.
I got this book in the mail around noon this morning and it was finished before five o'clock. I just couldn't put it down! I really got sucked into Hayleys world. I won't say that this is some inspiring piece of literature, because its far from that. But I have read TONS of books of this caliber and for this type (YA realistic fiction) I was quite impressed.
Hogan did a good balance of showing how food, diet, weight and body image were a huge part of Hayleys thinking, but she didn't let the subject overpower the romantic adventure story that, IMHO, was the true flesh of this book.
Bottom line, I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a taste for coming of age stories or memoir type stories.
This book was a short, nice read. I liked the main character because she was witty and hilarious and honestly, i felt kind of bad for her because of how she was treated just because of her weight. I think it brought nice attention to self-value and self-respect. For these times, this book was inspirational for girls my age and I think it actually did help me too. The whole Italy trip was so me and I loved all the beautiful scenery and culture; traveling is always so much fun. The laid back lifestyle seemed nice and it brought a beautiful simplicity to it. The guy int he book was so dreamy with the blue eyes and all but I think they went way too fast in a certain part of the book so that would probably be the only downside. This book had humor, love, self-respect, food, traveling, culture, life values, self-control, and teenager years to a new standard.
The cover art was really nice and i think ti went well with the book however I probably would've chosen something with more Italy in ti, since it mostly takes place there and it's centered more toward that experience.
In all, I loved this book. Enjoy)
